What is Adaptive Cruise Control?
• It is a comfort system
• It can be used in conjunction with other Driver Assistance Systems, such as, Collision Avoidance, Distance Control
• It is based on radar or infrared sensor technology, and can be found in different cars, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Jaguar, VW, Lexus, Mitsubishi & Nissan
• It detects & evaluates the traffic scenario and the road curvature ahead,measures distance to the proceeding vehicle, and adapts the velocity of the vehicle automatically
• It controls the brake, the engine and the gearbox
• It requires intensive analog and/or digital signal processing, and generally, the use of a microcontroller
